ALOHA PHOTO STUDIO

On-location photo sessions by a professional photographer

PROFILE
Hello, nice to meet you.
My name is Aloha Sato.

Ever since I was little, I’ve kept an instant camera in my school bag and took photos of whatever caught my heart.
More recently, I studied coffee at a barista school in Melbourne, Australia
—camera in hand, capturing moments I loved along the way.

From the sea, the mountains, to rivers—I’ve lived close to nature all my life.
Now, I’m based in Kurumayama, in the Kirigamine area of Chino City, Nagano Prefecture.
Here, surrounded by breathtaking nature, I continue to photograph the “moments” I treasure most.

My studio is the great outdoors.

Looking back at old photo albums, I see my grandparents’ wedding photos
—elegant and timeless, a scene that no longer exists today.
There are wrinkled, tearful smiles on my parents’ faces from the day I was born.
Even just hearing the stories behind those moments is touching
—but when you look at the faded photos, it’s as if everyone time-travels back and starts sharing those memories again.

I’ve heard that my grandmother was a bit of a camera nerd. Haha.
My father even built her a darkroom at home so she could develop her own film.
She would immerse herself in photography and the joy of developing prints in that quiet space.
I was completely fascinated by her stories—
and now, I think I’ve inherited her love for photography too. Haha.

From joining the school photo club, graduating from a photography college, to working as a commercial photographer traveling around the world
—
my grandmother captured the smiles of children and the beauty of nature through her lens.
That spirit naturally passed on to my mother, and then to me
—
like a baton, the camera has been passed down, becoming part of my everyday life.

When I capture a smile, it creates a ripple of smiles around me.
Those moments become memories you can look back on—
and even after many years, they live on.
The magic of the shutter is truly beyond words.

The color of the sky changes every day.
So do the seasons.
Living closely with nature—by the sea, in the mountains—
I want to continue capturing honest, natural expressions on the stage of the natural world.

I hope to photograph the moments when your true heart quietly reveals itself —
even if you don’t notice it yourself.

I take photos to bring joy—lots of it.
And I will keep clicking the shutter for those moments of happiness.
Everyday moments, celebrations, weddings, maternity, children growing up, family portraits
— whatever the occasion, let’s talk.
I offer on-location photo sessions and would love to capture your special story.
