Hello everyone,
March has arrived.
Here in Kirigamine Kurumayama, we still have some chilly days.
Sometimes light snow falls, and just when it seems like winter is ending, the sun comes out and shines on the remaining snow, creating beautiful scenes.
The mountains show us different faces each day, and their quiet beauty is always a joy to see.
This month, we would like to share one of our favorite picture books.
The title, “Minna to Chigau Kimi Dakedo,” means
“Even Though You’re Different, You’re You.”
Around the world, there are so many countries,
so many languages,
and so many wonderful people with unique personalities.
People live in different places, with different cultures and ways of life.
In that sense, we Japanese are the same too.
When hearts with different colors come together—
when we notice each other, appreciate each other, respect each other,
talk together and try to understand one another—
little by little, the world becomes a warmer and kinder place.
This is a message we love in this picture book.
We are all different, and that is what makes each of us special.
We hope we can all enjoy these days together, celebrating our differences.
